Greetings!
Brrrrr!!!!! The cold north winds have been blowing,
and sunny days have changed to mainly cloudy ones
here in beautiful Penticton. On our rare sunny
days you see everyone's spirits soar and energy
rise!

I was fortunate to be out running while the sun
shone twice last week! The first time I visualized
myself running in Hawaii- heard the crowds cheering
me on as I ran toward the finish line! Yes!!!
I was so blessed- the skies were only blue during
my run- perfect timing! It was heavenly- quite
different from the cold, overcast blustering winds
on Sunday- and running into a sandstorm along
the lake!

The
second sunny run was on Friday, my longest run
yet- 32k, or 20 miles. It started out cloudy,
and turned out beautiful and sunny. Along the
run Lisa, my coach, said to me, "Running
a marathon is just like life. Setting goals, persisting,
following through even when it's difficult, and
then the final achievement, crossing the finish
line, making it all worthwhile'. That run was
a perfect metaphor for life. It was long, I had
a really sore leg and was in great pain- but with
Lisa's support, stretching and Tylenol, I completed
the run! It was a huge learning for me- that I
can run through the pain, and eventually it subsides!
How many times in life do things get too hard
on our journey, and we give up on our dreams because
we can't bear the pain? Yet, if we persist and
carry through, the win is so incredible!
There was amazing beauty along the run as well.
We ran around Skaha Lake, and on the east side
saw 4 swans, 3 white and 1 grey, swimming together.
We had a news reporter following us, taking pictures,
which made for a few laughs. Further on we saw
two deer in an orchard, sitting down watching
us. On the west side we saw a bald eagle in a
tree, then one big buck, then a larger buck, 2
does and a young one. How awesome was that? I
am so grateful to live here! And to think, if
I hadn't been on that run I would have missed
all of that beautiful wildlife, as well as the
sunshine!

It reminded me of the movie I saw
last Saturday, 'What the Bleep do we Know?' It's
a wonderful movie on quantum physics, and how we
create our reality. I believe I see wildlife on
most of my runs because I want to see it, so I look
for it. At one point the star, Marlee Martin, is
looking at herself in the mirror, and sees her hips
expand to twice their size. I could certainly relate
to that! When I'm feeling good about myself, I think
I look great- when I'm feeling low energy (like
on a sugar crash!) all I see is fat and wrinkles!
I had another example of what my reality looks like
this weekend too. There was a large newspaper article
done about me in our local newspaper, with a fantastic
picture of Lisa and me running in it. I was upset
with some of the things in the article, and thought
I sounded like a bimbo. I also did a workshop with
an incredible group of women on Saturday, and felt
I could have done better at the end of it. I spent
yesterday and this morning beating myself up about
the workshop and the newspaper article. I meditated
and journaled, but couldn't let it go. I couldn't
silence my monkey mind. I created my reality in
this instance too- I looked for faults in what I
did, and found them. I then started thinking there
was something wrong with me because I couldn't shake
feeling down- rather than accepting that is where
I was and allowing it to run its natural course
and carry on.
Then today, I received 3 wonderful emails regarding
the article, and had someone come up to me at
Curves who said they were cutting the article
out and sending it to their daughter, as maybe
it would motivate her to make some changes. I
also received a wonderful email of thanks from
the group I did the workshop for. My reality was
clearly different than theirs. I wasn't able to
switch my thinking immediately, as it states in
"What the Bleep", but with the help
of friends I was able to change my thinking and
get back on track. Support is so incredible, isn't
it? I am so truly blessed for great friendships
and support! My challenge to you next time you
need some help with letting go or getting unstuck,
or a reality check, is to call someone and ask
for help! We get by with a little help from our
friends! And coaches!
If you haven't seen 'What the Bleep' yet, check
out their website. There is a very cool article
on a study done by Dr. Masaru Emoto, on the messages
in water. He photographed water crystals that
had different intentions focused on them, and
the water molecules changed their expression,
becoming beautiful snowflakes with words like
joy and love, and ugly messes with words like
anger and I hate you. You can find out more by
looking under phenomenon on the left link bar,
and clicking on 'water crystals'. We are 70% water,
so let's remember to think, express and be joy
and love...

Less than three weeks and I'll be running in
Honolulu! Wow, this training time has gone quickly!
I am almost there with the fundraising- I have
about $1250 yet to raise $4000- and would love
to raise even more! It's not too late to donate-
donations can be sent in until the end of December
on my behalf. Support isn't just about the money-
it's about the supportive thoughts and words as
well. I truly appreciate your support, thank you.
I am still offering a month's free coaching (or
a workshop!)to anyone who donates $250 or more
to the Arthritis Society. It's a charitable donation,
so you will get a receipt from them for tax purposes.
If you have thought about coaching but couldn't
justify giving yourself the gift, give to the
Arthritis Society and let me give you the gift
of coaching! If you aren't sure what to get someone
on your Christmas list- give them the month's
coaching! It doesn't need to be a large donation-
$5 is greatly appreciated too! It all adds up
and makes a big difference!
Please forward this newsletter on to others who
may want to donate to the Arthritis Society, or
may be interested in coaching. Thank you!
