Maddy's
birth reminded me of the miracle of life, and
how I was forgetting that about me. I had allowed
some negative self-talk to creep in, buying into
the old tapes 'I'm not good enough', 'I'm not
working hard enough', 'Who do I think I am?' When
I realized I had fallen into that mindset again,
I started beating myself up for 'allowing' it
to happen, that 'I knew better' and 'why hadn't
I learned the lesson by now', rather than accepting
it and doing a course correction, remembering
the miracle that I am.
Then I stopped and realized the perfection of
it. I'm currently writing a book about my journey
from a depressed couch potato to a joyful marathon
runner. Here was a good example for me- that if
I don't take care of myself and listen to my body,
I can slide down that slope again. Negative self-talk
and limiting beliefs can slip in at any time-
it's how I deal with them when they come up. When
I accept where I'm at rather than fighting it,
then I can make clearer choices. Being aware is
the first step, then I can choose what to do from
there, including changing my thinking to thoughts
that will serve me.
I love to live my life in joy, and am there most
of the time. So being in a lower energy state
feels uneasy; I resist it, thinking something
is wrong with me, and I want to get back to joy
immediately. The more I resist it persists! In
'Ask and it is Given', a book on the Law of Attraction
by Esther and Jerry Hicks, they say there are
22 different stages between depression and joy.
Rather than trying to get from the bottom to the
top in one fell swoop, they suggest increasing
your emotional level even one notch a day, from
boredom to contentment for example, is a good
thing. It's all about moving in a positive direction
rather than staying stuck. This makes total sense
to me- there's those baby steps again!
According to them, 'Anytime you have physical
discomfort of any kind, whether you call it emotional
or physical pain within your body, it always,
always means the same thing: "I have a desire
that is summoning Energy, but I have a belief
that is not allowing, so I've created resistance
in my body." The solution, every single time,
to the releasing of discomfort or pain is the
relaxation and the reaching for the feeling of
relief.' For me, that means to slow down, and
take time to play more, especially with my delightful,
precious granddaughters! Are you ready for some
relaxation and relief? If so, what does that look
like to you?
My challenge to you is to do a self-check on
your thoughts and words. Are they serving you
and in your highest good? If so, congratulations!
If not, change them to thoughts that do recognize
the true miracle of your life! If you would like
some assistance in that department, give me a
holler!
My wish for you, wherever you are on this marathon
of life, is to stop and smell the roses (or sagebrush)
along the way and look for the miracles. Happy
summer!!!

This section is for you to share an inspirational
quote, story, website- whatever you choose!
Today I choose to share a picture of our
beautiful granddaughters, Serena and Madison,
and one of my favorite writings:
'Our Greatest Fear' by Marianne
Williamson expresses the incredible miracle
of our life.
|
|
|
Our greatest fear is not that we are inadequate,
but that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness, that
frightens us.
We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant,
gorgeous, handsome, talented and fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking
so that other people won't feel insecure
around you.
We were born to make manifest the glory
of God within us.
It is not just in some; it is in everyone.
And, as we let our own light shine,
we consciously give other people permission
to do the same.
As we are liberated from our fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.
May your light shine brightly!
